We get a plenty of evidences of surgical intervention in traumatic injuries, abscess, bone fractures, renal stones, prostate diseases, warfare injuries and haemorrhage in various chapters of Atharva veda.1 Later in Ayurvedic literatures it evolved as a separate stream and derived its name as Shalya Tantra. A small Anal fistula treatment with ksharasutra

I would like to share a case of small fistula-in-ano in a 40-year old male. It hada short history for six months. The patient had been suffering from pain and burning sensation in anus for two years which was treated conservatively at home with home remedies. Suddenly hedeveloped a painful perianal swelling which, I suppose, was a perianal abscess.

Get perianal abscess treated as early as possible

A perianal abscess heralds with a painful swelling around the anal orifice, sometimes pain is felt but swelling is not seen as the abscess remains deep seated. Initially there is a sense of heaviness in the perianal area and then gradually pain starts. The patient feels pain almost in all positions, but more in sitting position or during passing stool. Patient cannot drive, ride motor cycle or bi-cycle. In one or two days pain becomes intense and patient visits doctor's clinic; sometimes there may be associated fever, anorexia, constipation or diarrhoea.
